Bench Light, Ross Lovegrove

Is it a bench. Is it a light, no it is both. Describing himself as an evolutionary biologist, the designer shows through his designs that he has really embraced the digital age, whereby most industrail designers are going back to the original methods of manufacturing. This is the kind of innovative thinking that makes design, design.

The Infinity Bench, Andrew Tom Huang

It looks to me like a modern version of a log. It looks so light and fluid and i'm not sure it would work in our rather hostile park environments but it would work in my garden. Chained to a wall.

It reminds me of ice cream sticks, and I was skeptical whether it would not support my weight. But it seems it qualified as a bench therefore, this method of construction has enough structural integrity. It is called strip construction and it is used in the construction of wooden canoes. It is genius, I am imagining the possibility.

Passive Amplifier, iPhone

Italian designers Isabella Lovero and Enrico Bosa of en&is design studio have designed a Passive Amplifier for iphones, that can be used to listen to music and for conference calls. The amplifier is made of ceramic and the form, reminiscent of rhino horns, is ideal to amplify and optimize the best sound output. The base of the amplifier, is a thin wooden frame that allows the object to appear as if it is suspended or floating off the table, this optimizes the emission of sound.

It is Compatible with iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch with case. And now we wait for it to arrive in South Africa. According to the Apple store in SA (the big one in JHB), they have not even been shown this new product yet.

Lebanon Designs

I have nothing to say except that I enjoy arabesque detailing and motifs. I have a rather eclectic taste that keeps evolving on me, so the sofas are something I am already imagining in my home. http://www.nadadebs.com/

Brit Insurance Furniture Award 2011: Branca, Industrial Facility, Sam Hecht, Kim Colin and Ippei Matsumoto, Italy.

The Branca chair, designed by Industrial Facility and manufactured by Italian brothers Mattiazzi was intended to look familiar to the eye. Mimicking the natural growth patterns of twigs and branches, the Branca backrest and armrests seem to grow seamlessly from just one piece of wood.- http://www.designsoftheyear.com/

Its a beautiful chair, if nature grew furniture this chair would be copyrighted by a tree. I would love it for my study (converted second bedroom) and my dining room (if i had dining space). It has simple delicate lines; it looks so light that I do not think it would be a stretch to think that if you sat on it it would break,..I think you would, especially with ATM's.
